Ethos, Vision and Mission

We understand that values are caught, not just taught, and our environment is designed to embody this truth.

Our Philosophy

At St. Dominic’s, our philosophy is to foster an ethos of learning where the growth and development of the whole person is paramount. We believe that each pupil’s potential is fully realized in an environment that allows for individual creativity and expression.

A Community of Faith

St. Dominic’s is dedicated to providing a community where we embody Gospel Values, particularly justice, love, truth, and respect for the dignity of each person.

We recognize that parents are the primary educators of their children. We deeply respect the unique culture and values your family brings and ask that you partner with us. We encourage you to trust us and collaborate in school life, supporting everything from our academic pursuits to our liturgies and outreach to the poor.

Our Teachers

Our teachers are expected to live out this philosophy in both their professional and personal lives. They are not only dedicated educators but also active participants in all aspects of our school community—religious, social, and academic. We view teaching as a Christian ministry.

Our Commitment to Our Students

We are committed to providing students with opportunities to experience God in the wonders of creation, in their learning, and in service to others. We prepare them through creative academic training to develop a vocational view of life. We also strive to cultivate a critical mindset and a courageous spirit that will empower them to challenge injustice and threats to human life.

As a school community, we celebrate the sacredness of all life and endeavor to help each person fully develop their God-given potential, all within the framework of the Incarnation.

We start each day at 07h35 with a Bible reading and a prayer.  At 12 noon each day the Angelus Bell reminds us all to pray.

The School Chapel is always open for our learners and parents to pray and spend some time with God.

“It is about empathy, it is about human kindness and the ability to step into another’s shoes. This is something that has been central to our ethos since the Dominican Sisters founded the school nearly a hundred years ago.”
